Fried Chicken: Popeyes vs. KFC

12:54 PM

Going along with the healthy theme of our first fight, it's only natural that our next food fight would involve fried chicken. As you can imagine, there are many layers to this decision -- the crunchiness of the breading, the moistness of the chicken, the seasonings. Not to mention, you've just gotta compare the biscuits, too.

We ordered the Bonafide Mild Chicken from Popeyes and Original Recipe fried chicken from KFC. On this fight, we had no preconceived notions on who the winner would be -- most of us hadn't tried either, and the others had only tried one of the two with nothing to compare to.

After a few minutes, we knew who the winner was -- aside from Cameron, who's taste buds would not give into peer pressure and decided to stray from the rest of us. KFC beat Popeye's 5-1.

What we liked about KFC: It was less greasy than Popeye's. The breading had more of a crunch.
What we liked about Popeye's: We liked the pepper in the breading and the chicken was slightly juicier,  but the grease was too much for most of us to handle.

Regarding the biscuits, it was a clean sweep after one bite -- Popeye's won 6-0. We felt that the KFC biscuits didn't have flavor and had the wrong texture, while Popeye's biscuits were flaky, buttery, and flavorful.

Bon Apetit,
FFF

Federico Fellini once said, "Life is a combination of magic and pasta."

We think he was pretty spot-on with that one.
